Just imagine for a second your child is relaxing at home with their boyfriend or girlfriend. They're in bed, watching a movie, when your child falls asleep. Then, out of nowhere, there's a loud bang at the door. Your child and her partner are startled; don't know what's going on. Your child is unarmed, but their partner legally has a firearm, and as the seeming intruder breaks in, he/she fires. The intruders fire back and hit and kill your child in the process. In the ensuing grand jury trial, none of the three intruders are charged with killing your child. It's almost as if your child's death was ignored. Oh, and by the way, said intruders were cops. During an interview with Jason Whitlock on Fox Sports's Speak for Yourself , Vick said: "The first thing we've got to get Colin to do is cut his hair. Being born in Nebraska and having lived there for 26 of my 32 years, a large majority of the people I know still reside in the Cornhusker state and keep in touch with me via Facebook. Following the Seattle Seahawks' 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday night, I've been rather surprised by the number of Nebraska fans whom have harshly criticized Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's post-game comments - going as far as to call him an a*shole, who is bound to be in a prison cell one day. While I'd be the first to admit that Sherman's comments were over-the-top, I also think the story has gotten completely blown out-of-proportion and I find it highly ironic that, Nebraska fans of all people, have the gall to say such things with regard to Sherman's post-game rant. I just read an article regarding Tim Tebow and asking the hypothetical, "What if he were a Muslim? Would American still love him?" The article brought up an interesting question at the start, but the substance of it was lacking. In any case, it prompted many comments from members of the site. Many talked about how the United States, while extra sensitive toward Muslims, is not at all sensitive toward Christians and that it was the same case with regard to ethnicities other than Caucasians. First off, tv shows and comedy skits typically portray Muslims as terrorists. If that's not insensitive, I'm not sure what is. Often times, blacks are portrayed as lazy and "gangster," Hispanics portrayed as illegals or working a hard-working, low-paying kind of job. I just read this essay yesterday and felt the need to share it. I read a very disturbing story just yesterday about the Michigan Republican-controlled Senate passing an anti-bullying bill which excludes from the bill bullying if it is in the name of sincerely held religious beliefs or moral conviction. What, is this due to the bullying of homosexuals and that it's supposedly an "abomination" to God? Why even have an anti-bullying bill if it excludes bullying based on religious beliefs? Due to this, who's to say a majority of the perpetrators of such bullying won't hide behind the notion that they did this in the name of their religious beliefs or moral convictions? We wouldn't be able to prove that the individual was speaking the truth or lying. This is pathetic... Fortunately, the bill has to go through the house of representatives. I'll admit it, politically speaking, my beliefs coincide with Sarah Palin's about as much as the GOP loves the ACLU. But, my disdain for Ms. Palin has nothing to do with her politics. No, what drives me crazy about Sarah Palin is her seeming obsession about being in front of the camera, of being a top story in any and every news cycle and when things don't go her way, her need to wave the victim card in front of our faces. Before then, she was well-known in Alaska, but not many other areas. Why is it that everyone seems to have the answer and they claim that no one else does? Christians claim the answers reside in the Bible. Muslims claim the answers reside in the Koran. Mormons say the answers reside in the Book of Mormon. Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, Joseph Smith. Follow one of their paths and you will see the lights of heaven shine down on you, but if you choose the wrong path to follow, then you'll be condemned for all eternity! I just listed four paths. Who knows how many others there are. So, what, we have a 1 in a countless numbered chance of being right on the path we follow? Is it basically a lottery? Luckily, I'm from Nebraska, and some guys from Lincoln won the $365 million jackpot not too terribly long ago, so maybe we're lucky there.
