Well, that was special...

On July 28th, I posted a blog entitled, "An updated Obama chain email continues to be filled with BS (http://thekind-heartedsmartaleck.blogspot.com/2015/07/an-updated-obama-chain-email-continues.html). In this chain email, which has been continually updated throughout Obama's tenure, 37 claims were made. Thanks to a fact-checker by the name of Matthew ( http://barnson.org/node/1880), here are how things broke down:  True: 4 (10.8%) False 27 (73.0%) Mixed: 3 (8.1%) No grade: 3 (8.1%) In other words, anywhere from 30 to 33 of the 37 claims were at least partially false (81.1% to 89.2%).  Just this afternoon, I received a response to this post, which said something along the lines of this:  "I think you're at least half wrong. What qualifies you to fact check anyway? I know #36 is true. This is probably something the White House came up with." It honestly doesn't take much to fact-check, dear reader. If someone tells me that Nairobi is the capita...

An updated Obama chain email continues to be filled with BS

It really amazes me the kind of BS people will believe simply because they want to believe it. Case and point - a political chain email. If you've received one concerning President Obama, there's approximately a 90% chance that it's at least partially false (around a 70% chance that it's completely false). That trend continued with the latest such email I came across. It's been updated over the years, but I was fortunately able to come across a detailed analysis of all the email's claims so I didn't have to do the job myself. The fact-checker is Matthew at Barnson.org, who I will be using as my reference to keep a running tally of the accurate and inaccurate claims (his full analysis can be found at this link - http://barnson.org/node/1880). Without further ado, here's the chain email: "QUIT BASHING OBAMA - by COL. ROBERT F. CUNNINGHAM and PATRICK RISHOR, The Gilmer Mirror Quit trashing Obama's accomplishments. He has done more than any ot...

Ben Stein's odd words about Christmas

According to a popular Christmas-time forward, which has been deemed as "partly true" by fact-checker Snopes.com (or partly false), conservative talking head and man voted to have a more boring voice than a robot by the name of Dullby - Ben Stein - had this to say about the holiday season: "I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat." Like many over at Fox News, it appears as if Ben Stein feels that there's an all-out "War on Christmas" in this country. To Stein and his ilk, saying "Happy Holidays!" to a person can be translated to, "God is not present among us!" What pu...
