Here's just one story from yesterday's NFL action where the replacement refs did in fact appear to be more clueless than Forrest Gump when listening to Albert Einstein speak. In a game between the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles, the Cardinals quarterback - Kevin Kolb - got sacked on a 1st down play. The Cardinals were also flagged for holding. To my surprise, the head official stated that Philly would take the holding call and it'd remain 1st down. At that point, Philly head coach Andy Reid had a few words for the officials and informed them that he wanted to decline the penalty. The head official came out, said the penalty was declined and it'd result in the down being 3rd. Yes - from 1st to 3rd. Then Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt spoke to the official to inform them the down wasn't three.
