As much as I like the guy, Vice President Joe Biden makes more gaffes than I wash my hands and for the record, I'm a little anal-retentive about that. During a speech in Charlotte, North Carolina yesterday, Biden said the following: "This is deadly earnest. How they (Romney/Ryan) can justify...raising taxes on the middle class that has been buried the last four years? How in the Lord's name can they justify raising their taxes and these tax cuts? We've seen this movie before - massive tax cuts for the wealthy, eliminating restrictions on Wall Street, let the banks write their own rules. We know where it ends. It ends in the catastrophe of the middle class and the Great Recession of 2008. Folks, we cannot go back to that. The president and I have a different way forward." Not too long ago, Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, tried explaining the differences between his and President Obama's plans for Medicare. How'd he do this? Via writing them down on a white board. Yes, Mitt Romney has now proven to the American middle-working class that he is just like them, because he can write on a white board! Perhaps his next step should be trying to appeal to minority voters by explaining the differences between his and Obama's plans for welfare via his notes on a blackboard. Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, released his tax returns today. It was revealed that he paid a 13.9% tax rate in 2010 and expect that to be 15.4% for 2011. As this rate is lower than most wage-earning Americans, I'm not thinking this is going to help Romney's chances. Now, it should be noted that Romney contributed $7 million in charity over those two years, which represents more than 15% of his income. However, the majority of that money went to the Mormon church, which won't help him with the Evangelicals. I think this was a double-whammy for Romney. No wonder he didn't want to release his tax returns. The 13.9 and 15.4% won't help him with the middle- and lower-classes, regardless of their party affiliation. Then the hefty donations to the Mormon church won't aid him with the religious right.
