So, I made a couple of sarcastic tweets at the expense of the Tea Party today. Not long afterward, I saw that I got added to a group called "Self-hating leftists." Last I checked, there are 632 members in this group, which is described as, "Brainwashed by public schooling and group think." Self-hatred is defined as: "An extreme dislike or hatred of oneself, or being angry at or even prejudiced against oneself." It's also said that this term is "used infrequently by psychologists and psychiatrists, who would usually describe people who hate themselves as 'persons with low self-esteem.'" I find the group description humorous, because it insinuates that being educated is a bad thing and referring to liberals as self-hating or self-loathing appears to be a prime example of groupthink.
