In 2006, Mike Judge released the film Idiocracy, which is a satire on the devolution of humanity. Since he's surrounded by literal idiots, the intellectually-average Luke Wilson comes across as a genius. Upon completing the film for the first time, my initial thought was, "That may have been the cleverest stupid/stupidest clever movie I've ever seen." Unfortunately, nearly two decades later, the satire comes across as more of a prophesy than a comedy. America has become a joke, and in no way is that funny. The people have been dumbed down; brainwashed; follow a cult-like figure; care only about themselves; and reality has essentially been turned on its head.  I feel like a genius Haley Joel Osment at the moment, as I'm surrounded by dumb people. During the 35-day government shutdown, the longest in this country's history, Donald Trump saw his approval rating drop to 37% in Gallup polls. The latest round of Gallup polls were just released this week and it showed Trump's post-shutdown approval rating was up 7 points to 44%. Upon seeing this, my first reaction was, "WTF?!? Are people really this stupid?!?" Considering the fact we elected this man president at all, I suppose it should be obvious by now that answer is a resounding yes! Ever see a movie, an episode of a show, or hear a song which clicks with you years, even decades after first experiencing it? Then think to yourself, "Wow, were those writers psychic or something?" That's kind of how I'm feeling with regard to the 1992 film "The Distinguished Gentleman." The political comedy, written by Marty Kaplan and Jonathan Reynolds, is led by Eddie Murphy, and now seems to have been a psychic foreshadowing of our current president, Donald Trump. I earlier wrote about how, based on the public's rather moderate to liberal standing on many specific issues, it made absolutely no sense to vote for these issues alongside ultra-conservative candidates on election day. I then wondered aloud if the Mike Judge film "Idiocracy" was actually coming to fruition. Well, based on some other recent polls, that off-the-wall theory of mine appears to be garnering even more traction. Just prior to the election, an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed that, next to the economy, the most important issue for voters was ending the partisan gridlock in Washington. When first seeing Mike Judge's 2006 film, Idiocracy , my first thought was, "Well, this could go down as the cleverest stupid movie I've ever witnessed." I thought that while the film held a clever premise, the jokes induced about as many facepalms as when a semi-rational person listens to Rush Limbaugh's radio show. However, after seeing what occurred during Tuesday's elections, I have to wonder if Mike Judge is psychic and the film was almost a scarily accurate portrayal of what was to come eight years down the line. Former Republican vice presidential candidate and lover of an Ayn Rand blow-up doll - Paul Ryan - made quite the comment on our healthcare system today. Here, I'll let him explain things himself. In an interview on Radio Iowa Thursday, Mitt Romney's wife - Ann - said the following with regard to her husband being criticized by fellow Republicans: "Stop it. This is hard. You want to try? Get in the ring. This is hard and, you know, it's an important thing that we're doing right now and it's an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country." I find this to be amusing, because of something that was uncovered in the secret tape which was spilled a few days ago.  During that fundraiser in Boca Raton, Mitt told the donors that he was using his wife on the campaign,  “...sparingly... so that people don't get tired of her.”
 In light of Ann's radio interview, rumor has it that Mitt told those same donors from the secret tape, "See? I told you...

So, Scott Walker won the recall vote for Governor of Wisconsin two nights ago. Was this a surprising result? Judging by polls - no. Democrats are making it seem as if there was a voter-fraud conspiracy. Who really knows one way or another about that? Republicans are making it seem as if this is a foreshadowing of the November presidential election. That's an even further cry from the truth. Among people who voted on Tuesday in the state, Obama had a solid +11 advantage over Romney. How does that bode well for Romney in the state? Also, Democrats won back control of the state senate. Of course, those two bits of news aren't receiving the headlines. The headlines are all about Scott Walker being re-elected. That's understandable, I suppose, but the surrounding stories about his re-election are ridiculous.
