Like with the article I wrote about yesterday, which claimed that New York Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez wasn't going to second-guess head coach Rex Ryan's ridiculous decision to put him in behind an inexperienced offensive line in the 4th quarter of the team's third preseason game, I'm again asking "why?" with regard to an ESPN article which was published today - as in, "Why did this article ever need to be written?" The headline of today's article is, "Robert Kraft 'rooting for' Tim Tebow." Tebow completed just 1 of 7 pass attempts in the team's August 16th preseason game, for -1 yard, and an interception. He didn't play at all in the game last Thursday. So, what is no one outside of ESPN asking? "Will Tim Tebow make the 53-man roster?" Since I've found the Tim Tebow-hype to be so ridiculous, especially via ESPN, I thought I'd come up with a dialogue between ESPN and God, regarding who else but Tim Tebow. God: "What do you come here for?" ESPN: "To talk about Tim Tebow, sir." God: "Okay. Go ahead." ESPN: "Is it true that he's your son?" God: "You're all my children. Although, I admit that I do like some of you more than others." ESPN: "...and Tebow?" God: "He's a fine young man with a good heart." ESPN: "Is it true that you intervened in all of those comebacks the Broncos had this year?" God: "No, what do you think I am?" Before I give my take on this article, I'll give everyone a chance to read it for themselves. This isn't big news. Thirteen Patriots were questionable on gameday and not because they hadn't slept great the night before or wanted to watch re-runs of "Mad About You". They were banged up. But, okay, I'll give in. Tebow has, rightly or not, become a big name in the NFL, so perhaps this story deserved mention. However, the way it was written made me chuckle. No, that's not a typo. Watch a replay of Countdown somewhere and scroll forward to the final 2-3 minutes when they made this announcement. It was incredible to watch the show today. The show airs from 10 am to 1 pm. I'd say about half the show was dedicated to Tebow. I'm not exaggerating. Again, watch a replay of the program. Hell, it felt like more than half the show was dedicated to the guy. Fricking ridiculous. Does ESPN realize what they're doing? It's like a hit single on the radio. People may love it at first, but if it gets played too frequently, people are going to grow tired of it...and fast... That's kind of where I am. My dad and I were watching the show and we couldn't believe it.
