When it comes to the Indianapolis Colts fans and Doug Gottlieb vs. Andrew Luck, I'm on Team Luck

To the surprise of many, Pro Bowl Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Andrew Luck recently announced his retirement, at the young age of 29 (he'll be 30 in a week). Upon hearing this, Indianapolis Colts fans started booing him. Sports commentator Doug Gottlieb tweeted, "Retiring cause rehabbing is 'too hard' is the most millennial thing ever #AndrewLuck." For only being 29 years old, Andrew Luck has sustained a number of awful injuries. It seems as though his love for the game was lost through this grueling cycle of injury and rehab. Not only has this been grueling for him physically, but also mentally. I love football. I honestly wish I didn't at times, because these grown men constantly put themselves in harm's way and place their short- and long-term health on the line just for our entertainment. Sure, they make millions of dollars, but at the end of the day, is that worth memory loss at a young age, a shorter lifespan, and excruciating pain aft...

When it comes to the Houston Texans, Clay Travis and Doug Gottlieb are missing the bigger picture

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair came under a great deal of heat after it was discovered he said, with regard to the NFL players protests, "We can't have inmates running the prison." This resulted in Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins missing practice and most of the Texans' team kneeling in protest before their contest with the Seahawks in Seattle on Sunday. College basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb and sportswriter Clay Travis criticized the Texans players for this move, as the former said, "DeAndre Hopkins obviously - I'm just gonna be blunt - he's not smart enough to understand the nuance of what he's (Bob McNair) saying." and the latter ironically wrote, "Houston Texans Protest Proves Team Is Full Of Idiots." Both media personalities resorted to the fact that "you can't have inmates running the asylum" is a fairly common idiom which is used to declare that it's wrong to conclude employees are better able to run...

College basketball "analyst" Doug Gottlieb gives comedy a try...

Prior to the first Sweet 16 college basketball game last night between Miami (Florida) and Marquette, the likes of Greg Gumbel, Greg Anthony, Doug Gottlieb, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley previewed the games in the studio. After Gumbel introduced the crew, Gottlieb, the only Caucasian gentleman of the group, chimed in with the following line: "Cream rising to the crop. I don't know why you guys asked me, I'm just here to bring diversity to the set here. Give the kind of white man's perspective on things from the point guard position." Yes, there was complete and total silence following the sad attempt of a joke, along with the two men to his left and two to his right shaking their heads simultaneously. Perhaps the worst part about the joke wasn't what Gottlieb said, so much as how he said it. The guy looked less comfortable than a mime doing karaoke. What was going on in that guy's mind before and during the telling of the "joke" is anyon...
