Some things just don't make sense. As the saying goes, "Reality is stranger than fiction." One example of this is racism. Some hate and deem others as inferior due to their skin color. If we were all blind, this wouldn't be an issue, so why should it be if we have 20/20 vision? The Smurfs are blue. The Incredible Hulk is green. Do I hear anyone shouting discriminatory comments based on their skin color? No. So why, if fictional characters aren't judged on the color of their skin, should real people be judged on theirs? It's stupid and makes no sense. You know what else doesn't make sense? Patriarchy. Sure, we in America like to parade ourselves as the land of opportunity, the land of freedom, the land of equality, but that's bullsh*t. Men rule; women take care of little ones who drool, or however that goes... Let's place this into the proper perspective. Women tend to make less than men before getting pregnant. Then they waddle around for 9 month...

I read the following conservative parable via a Facebook post last night and felt the need to comment on it. Before my commentary, here's the post in its entirety: "Recently, while I was working cuttin trees in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?' She replied... 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.' Her parents beamed with pride! 'Wow... what a worthy goal' I said. 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!' I told her. 'What do you mean?' she replied. So I told her, 'You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedges...

Just yesterday, I saw this meme posted by someone on Facebook:  Yes, I'm still scratching my head as well, and for two reasons: 1) How in the world is this supposed to be funny? and 2) How in the world does it make any sense whatsoever?  The meme appears to try linking Bernie Sanders supporters, as displayed at this rally, to the reason(s) why socialism doesn't work. However, even if I'm at all accurate on the message the meme is trying to convey, it's an extremely weak attempt, and a nonsensical one at that.  One reason this is such a weak meme is the fact a similar photo could be taken at a rally of each and every presidential candidate, from Bernie Sanders to Donald Trump to Hillary Clinton to even the likes of Rick Santorum and Carly Fiorina, whom are placing near the very bottom of GOP polls. Each of these candidates' rallies would showcase many supporters, some of which are holding up signs illustrating strong support for him or her. If ...

Not long after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples nationwide, the nonprofit group CatholicVote.org  decided to release a video with their reaction to the landmark ruling. The video is entitled, "Not Alone," is black-and-white, features music that comes across like a Sarah McLachlan song from a starving-children's or abused-dogs' commercial, and presents each of six young adults individually, as they sit down in a chair and look like they're about to say something of great importance. Here's what they all had to say: "I am a little bit nervous about people, um, kind of hearing that I'm this way and thinking, well, um, she's, she's not welcome here." "I would say I am different. We're all different." "Most people probably think I'm already weird anyway, so, I mean, I don't think society's impression of me is going to change drastically based on one or two ...

Last night, I came up with the following tweet, which generated multiple likes and retweets: "Why are many who believe in predestination so paranoid about Obama? Did an omnipotent God make a mistake or something?" A far-right friend of mine responded with this: "Proverbs 14:34 says, 'Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.' We get the leaders we deserve." How did that answer my question? If someone who is paranoid about Obama believes a higher power granted us all free will, then that would make perfect sense. However, if this paranoid-about-Obama individual believes in predestination, then how would it make sense to be paranoid about President Obama? If his election and re-election as President of the United States were predestined by God, then are these individuals admitting that God made a mistake or that there is no such thing as predestination? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? I didn't think so.

I think that Meat Loaf would sound quite confused, to put it nicely, if instead of singing "...but I just won't do that," he sang what he essentially means with those before-mentioned words by singing: "I would do anything for love, Oh, I would do anything for love, I would do anything for love, But I won't do anything for love." Rumor has it that when Meat Loaf was asked if he'd take his lawfully wed ded wife, to love and to cherish, to have and to hold for as long as they both shall live, he responded with: "I do, I do, I do, But I don't."

It comes as no surprise to me that New England Patriots starting quarterback Tom Brady will forego the chance of playing in the Pro Bowl this coming Sunday. He's been battered and bruised for most of the season, and coming off a disappointing loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game this past Sunday, I doubt he's in any mood to play anyway. What is surprising to me is who will be replacing Brady on the AFC Pro Bowl roster - Indianapolis Colts' rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. All year long, I've been quick to counter the ESPN talking heads whom were sparkly-eyed and drooling over Andrew Luck this season. Granted, the guy did help turn around the Indianapolis Colts this season, as they went from drafting him number one overall last year to reaching the playoffs this season. However, the Colts played one of the weakest schedules in all of football this year and Luck received too much of the credit for the turnaround, as quarterbacks often times do. While...
