Whether it's just a strategy to temper expectations or goes beyond that, I've repeatedly witnessed Democrats, progressives, and liberals say, "Tuesday night's debate is going to be a disaster. Trump gets away with everything. Harris will get destroyed. We have no chance. It's over." Why do so many people seem to be in such a rush, especially on the road? Why do we place that unnecessary extra load of stress on ourselves? While I've been told I drive too slow (Psst, I go the speed limit or slightly over), I find myself in a much more relaxed state on the road than most of my peers. The road is a metaphor for life. What happens when we try to rush things in everyday life and stress out in the process? We become more apt to making mistakes we normally wouldn't make and facing the consequences as a result. When covering the Republican Party this primary season, the media has typically gone in one direction - Donald Trump. When covering the Democratic Party, however, the focus has largely been on the low voter turnout, and whether or not it could be a bad sign for the party come November. Some Democrats have even echoed these sentiments. While it's hypothetically possible that the Democratic Party could have a poor showing in the general election, it's much too early to make such a prediction, or to conclude the low primary voter turnout will in any way be indicative of the turnout come November. While I often times criticize conservative media outlets for appearing to have amnesia with regard to facts and the more nonpartisan media outlets for fearing to be perceived as biased by simply telling the truth void of the opposite (and inaccurate) viewpoint, I also find myself coming after liberal media outlets for their tendency to sometimes overreact. Last week, I wrote a blog with regard to some liberal media outlets overreacting to Stephen Colbert's interview with Donald Trump on The Late Show . No, Colbert's questions weren't quite as hard-hitting as they had been with Ted Cruz the previous night, but they weren't softballs either. In fact, the slowest softball Colbert threw at Trump was a question pertaining to whether or not the GOP front-runner thought President Obama was born in this country, to which Trump refused to respond. After getting beat fairly handily by the Buffalo Bills in their pre-season opener 44-20, Indianapolis Colts owner tweeted the following message: "Many starters played briefly or were nursing little injuries,but it was a crap performance,my apologies/My commanders got n earful from me!" While I firmly believe the Colts were the most overrated team and Andrew Luck was the most overrated quarterback last season, I have to defend the team in this instance. Yeah, Mr. Irsay? Sir? It was a pre-season game. A Tecmo Bowl tournament is more important than the outcome of an NFL pre-season game. The most important thing about the pre-season is limiting the number of injuries to starters. The fact Indy got pummeled by the Buffalo Bills of all teams doesn't make me think any more or less of the team's chances going into the regular season. Well, after writing close to 50 blogs since Sunday, I think it's about time I take a day off and actually relax. Of course, having just said that, I have to chuckle at the fact I'm writing a blog to announce I won't be blogging today.

I just read an article about how June has already been an awful month for the Democratic Party and well, it basically laid claim that Armageddon was soon around the corner for the Democrats. Why? Three things: 1) The May jobs' report, 2) The Wisconsin results and 3) May fundraising. Has it been a good start for the Democrats this month? No. But are people overreacting? Yes. The May jobs' report was a big disappointment, without question, but let's put things into perspective. If a similar jobs report had come out at the end of Bush's tenure or the start of Obama's (or even middle of it), it would have received glowing reviews. Due to it (and the previous month's report), it appears as if job growth has definitely slowed, however, it was still a net positive, which makes it, what, 12 straight months with such results? I'm too lazy to fact-check right at this moment, but I think I'm close to accurate with that number. Again, it was very disappointing, ho...

It's happening all over. At grocery stores. Department stores. Malls. Evidently, there are terrorists running around, hiding bombs under trees, yelling out obscenities and protesting against the Christmas holiday. Okay, so maybe not that extreme, but when I think war, I think WAR - like the current one in Iraq. I don't think about a holiday, about trees and about carols. But some (many) people are talking about it, that there is an all out War on Christmas. It started with people simply being politically correct and saying Happy Holidays. Or perhaps some of those people weren't even intentionally being politically correct, they just realized there were multiple holidays upcoming and from the fact they may never see you again (not that you were soon to be dead, but, well, you know what I mean), they thought they'd make their job a bit easier and just say Happy Holidays.
