Louisiana, led by Republican Governor and Mr. 2016-Presidential-Hopeful-Polling-At-0% - Bobby Jindal - has been attempting to defund Planned Parenthood. However, in this ensuing court battle, the state has had some problems coming up with ways to provide low-income women with family planning care to replace Planned Parenthood should this occur. To help illustrate this point, the state's attorneys declared that Louisiana is home to approximately 2,000 family planning providers to help aid low-income women should Planned Parenthood be defunded. Well, as Inigo Montoya says in the film The Princess Bride with regard to the word inconceivable ("You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."), I have a hunch these attorneys are mistaken on what family planning providers actually are. I don't do this very often, but I'm going to come to the defense of two conservatives: Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol Palin. Jindal has been the butt of a lot of jokes this week concerning a video where he announced he was going to be running for president, and Palin has received criticism for once again getting pregnant. While I'd be the first to admit that Jindal's video appeared to be a tad on the creepy side, I also prefer how he went about things (minus the video) over how most other candidates go about making such announcements. I thought it was kind of nice that he sat with his family and talked to his kids about his decision, and even went so far as to ask what they thought. I respect that. I don't agree with Jindal on much of anything as far as politics are concerned, but while the video provides material for easy, cheap jokes and laughter, I think people should lay off him for this. Yes, the Republican Party is talking about another government shutdown (since it worked so well that last time...), and yes, even though House Republicans prompted the first shutdown and the GOP is talking about it being a possibility yet again, they claim, like the first go-round, it will be President Obama's fault.
