I saw this coming right when the New York Jets signed veteran quarterback Michael Vick. After the Jets' 13-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night in their first preseason game, where Vick was the only quarterback to lead the team to a touchdown, sports commentators are already asking the question, "Who will start for the New York Jets at the start of the season? Will Vick win the job?" As I said before, right when the Jets signed Vick, I thought it had quarterback controversy written all over it. First off, Geno Smith struggled mightily last year as a rookie. He completed 55.8% of his passes, averaged 6.9 yards per attempt, threw just 12 touchdowns passes in comparison to 21 interceptions, was sacked 43 times, and had a quarterback rating of 66.5. He also ran 72 times for 366 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 fumbles. New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan better hope that rookie quarterback Geno Smith is able to provide team management enough hope that they hang onto the coach for another year, because the coach's dumb preseason decision to bring starter Mark Sanchez in the 3rd quarter of a game with an inexperienced offensive line protecting him looks a great deal dumber now with the latest bit of news. While Sanchez was initially listed as day-to-day, it's now being reported that the quarterback may need shoulder surgery which would force him to miss all of the 2013 regular season.  Sanchez initially said he wasn't going to second-guess his coach's decision. After New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan's bonehead decision to insert starting quarterback Mark Sanchez in the 4th quarter of the team's third preseason game with an inexperienced line protecting him and getting injured as a result, Sanchez, luckily listed as day-to-day, said, "I'm not here to second-guess the coaches. If they call you to play, you better be ready to play, and I was. So I went in and and played and tried to win." He added: "Look, I'm a competitor. And as a player, it's not my job to worry about when you're going in, who's in, what string, this or that. After New York Jets' rookie quarterback Geno Smith got picked off three times in yesterday's preseason game against the New York Giants, it appeared as if the quarterback competition had been settled and Mark Sanchez was going to be the starter heading into the regular season. That was until head coach Rex Ryan decided to put Sanchez in the game with just 11:21 remaining in the 4th quarter and Sanchez got hit, injuring his throwing shoulder in the process. The severity of the injury is unknown at this point. After the game, Ryan basically said he placed Sanchez in to try and win the game. It's a preseason game. While preseason games can help a team build chemistry and help coaches decide on whom to start and whom to cut, they're not going to play any factor on whether or not a team makes the playoffs - that is, barring a serious injury to a key player. After drafting West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, the New York Jets felt there really was no point in holding onto back-up quarterback Tim Tebow and let him go today, after just one season with the team. In his much publicized career with the Jets, Tebow finished it having completed 6 of 8 passes for 39 yards. He also ran the ball 32 times for 102 yards. After hearing the news, many Jets players sounded disappointed, saying things such as: "Da*n! The bench is going to be colder now!" "Man... I found this bit of news to be funny. New York Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez, coming off a horrendous performance in the team's Monday night loss to the Tennessee Titans, will be benched the rest of the year in favor of... third-stringer Greg McElroy! Backup Tim Tebow is being passed over for Greg McElroy. Vegas odds still have it at 1 : 1 that Tebow will get mentioned more on ESPN in the coming week than Peyton Manning, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James combined!

I've criticized New York Jets' back-up quarterback Tim Tebow more than Tebow has prayed to Jesus, but even I will defend the quarterback in light of what I read in an ESPN.com article today. As reported by Jane McManus and Rich Cimini, a report was released which showed that 12 players on the New York Jets have stated that Tim Tebow isn't a good player. As one defensive starter told the Daily News, "He's terrible." Another player, said that outside of starting quarterback Mark Sanchez, "There's no other viable option." In addition to this, a Jets official told the newspaper the following regarding the team's passing game: "I've seen better receiving corps in college than we have on our team." Following Mark Sanchez's dreadful 10 for 27 performance in the New York Jets 27-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday, I was just awaiting those magical words "Put in Tebow!" For the game, Tim Tebow was a perfect 0 for 0 throwing the ball just as he was in week one. He also ran the ball one time for 22 yards after carrying the ball five times for 22 yards in the Jets' opening week win against Buffalo. If things continue at this rate, this will be Tebow's best year passing the football, as he will have complete just as many passes as he's thrown incomplete. We done, Timmy! As reported by ESPN today, New York Jets' starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez, was supposedly surprised by the team acquiring then Denver Broncos' starting quarterback, Tim Tebow. When reading the report, Sanchez didn't even sound angry - just surprised, asking, "Wow, how did this happen?" Now I'll be the first to admit that New York Jets' head coach, Rex Ryan, is none too coy about prompting drama, however I think, as is often times the case, the media is blowing this story way out of proportion. So, Tim Tebow is now a New York Jet. It's pretty crazy how it appears as if this move has garnered more attention than Peyton Manning signing with the Denver Broncos. Here we have Manning, one of the greatest quarterbacks of the contemporary era, if not of all-time and then Tim Tebow - one of the statistically worst quarterbacks in all of the NFL last year. How in the world is a backup quarterback, Tebow, garnering more media attention than a Hall-of-Fame starting quarterback in Manning? Well, any sane person would recognize that the Broncos made a great move, but what about the Jets? In my estimation, probably not. Starting quarterback Mark Sanchez gets rattled easily it seems and with Tebow breathing down his neck (figuratively, of course, unless Tim is a tad bit on the creepy side, but I'm not thinking that's the case), he'll feel the pressure two-fold. Here we go again. The Tim Tebow-led Denver Broncos came back to defeat the New York Jets 17-13 on Thursday night and the majority of the jabber is concerning Tebow's magical final drive which vaulted his Broncos to a victory. While that final drive was great, let's not look past the rest of the team and the game. First off, before that final drive. all Tebow did was lead the Broncos to one field goal. The only other touchdown they scored was via an Andre Goodman 26-yard interception return. Points wise, the Broncos have as much to thank New York Jets' quarterback Mark Sanchez for as they do their own quarterback, one Tim Tebow. In all seriousness, the Broncos had no business being in this game. The Jets turned the ball over twice, one which led to a touchdown as mentioned above. Denver accumulated just 11 first downs in the game, compared to 22 for the Jets. They accounted for a mere 229 yards of total offense, almost 100 less than New York (318). Tebow was only 9 for 2...

So, New York Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez, is receiving flak from the media due to his "flinch" in Sunday's game against Buffalo. Sanchez lined up as receiver and when the ball was snapped, flinched almost immediately. Some members of the media have called it extremely embarrassing, a couple even going so far as to say his teammates will lose respect for him because of this.
