Donald Trump, Jr. took to Twitter to defend his father's record on minorities, as he posted this tweet: "If over his entire presidency Obama had accomplished 10% of what @realDonaldTrump for these groups the left would anoint him emperor for life. When Trump does it in less than 2 years it's Blah Blah Blah. What a joke!" I think it's safe to assume Don Jr. is speaking in reference to the fact that unemployment among African-Americans is at the lowest rate ever recorded, dipping to under 6%. But as usual, a Trump isn't telling the whole story and is largely taking credit for someone else's work. Like every other demographic, black unemployment rose during the Great Recession, peaking at above 15% in 2010. It's been going down ever since, dipping to 12.5% in 2013, 10% in 2015, and roughly 7.5% when Obama left office. So black unemployment went from 17.5% to 7.5% under President Obama, a decrease of 57%. Meanwhile, it's decreased from 7.5% to 6%...

Last night, I read a Facebook post which included a link to an article titled, "If conservatives are racist why are over 20 Black Republicans running for office in 2013-1014?" Yes, there should have been a comma after the word "racist," "black" shouldn't be capitalized, and I believe these Republicans are running for office in 2013-2014, but I could be mistaken. The brief article, written by Joshua Riddle of Young Conservatives , reads as follows: "Oh, look!!! The racist Republicans are up to their racist shenanigans again. They already have over '20' Black Republicans running for public office in 2013-1014...and that's just the ones who announced. How can this happen? The Party is racist? Right? Ken Emanuelson, a Texas Tea Party activist, made a rather controversial statement at a May 20th Dallas County GOP event, when he answered a question with the following response: "I'm going to be real honest with you. The Republican Party doesn't want black people to vote if they are going to vote 9-to-1 for Democrats." Then just yesterday, the Tea Party loon (yes, a tad redundant, isn't it?) attempted to backtrack his previous remarks by saying this: "I hold no position of authority within the Republican Party and it wasn't my place to opine on behalf of the desires of the Republican Party. What I meant, and should have said, is that it is not, in my personal opinion, in the interests of the Republican Party to spend its own time and energy working to generally increase the number of Democratic voters at the polls, and at this point in time, nine of every ten African American voters cast their votes for the Democratic Party." Some people (mainly Casper-like white people living in gated communities) wonder why African-Americans rarely ever vote Republican. Both Al Gore and John Kerry won around 90% of the black vote in the 2000 and 2004 elections. Barack Obama won 95% in 2008 and 93% in 2012. What gives? It's situations like the one I'm about to share with you. Well after the election results became final, Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster publicly announced that there may have been some voter fraud in the state. Why did he suspect this? I'll allow him to tell you himself. Webster said, "In some parts of rural Maine, there were dozens, dozens of black people who came in and voted on Election Day." He continued with this: "Everybody has a right to vote, but nobody in [these] towns knows anyone who's black. How did that happen? I don't know. We're going to find out." With each and every election, it appears as if the Republican Party is getting older and whiter. With the country becoming progressively more diverse, this could pose some serious problems for the future of the party if it doesn't try appealing to more than the cast from the film Cocoon . In the 2012 presidential election, the exit polls revealed that President Barack Obama won among the following groups of people: Blacks (93%), Hispanics (71%), voters under 30 (60%) and women (55%). Republican challenger Mitt Romney won among these groups: Whites (59%) and seniors (56%). Of the electorate, non-whites made up 28%, voters under 30 made up 19%, and women made up 53%. For Barack Obama, 56% of his voters were white and 44% non-white. For Governor Romney, 89% of his voters were white and 11% non-white. So, I got into an interesting discussion recently. A radio show host just recently tried asking President Obama the following question - "I recently spent time asking African Americans about your policies and over 90% couldn't even name one. Do you believe its (sic) right that the black community votes for you strictly because you're part black?" This isn't the first time I've heard such a declaration. Following Barack Obama's victory in the 2008 Presidential Election, many far-right conservatives made the claim that he won due to the black vote, as he won 95% of it. Some went as far to say that African-Americans were being racist with their votes, because according to them - they were voting for Obama simply because of the color of his skin. Since almost 100% of blacks voted for President Obama, well, it seems pretty obvious that they were just voting for him for that very reason, right? Sorry to burst these people's bubble, but I'm not thinking...

I just read an article regarding Tim Tebow and asking the hypothetical, "What if he were a Muslim? Would American still love him?" The article brought up an interesting question at the start, but the substance of it was lacking. In any case, it prompted many comments from members of the site. Many talked about how the United States, while extra sensitive toward Muslims, is not at all sensitive toward Christians and that it was the same case with regard to ethnicities other than Caucasians. First off, tv shows and comedy skits typically portray Muslims as terrorists. If that's not insensitive, I'm not sure what is. Often times, blacks are portrayed as lazy and "gangster," Hispanics portrayed as illegals or working a hard-working, low-paying kind of job. However, most of the skits or comedy bits center around Christianity and whites. Why is this?
