The Kind-Hearted Smart Aleck

It's another day and there's another story about sexist commentary made by male talking heads on Fox News. On Monday, Major Mariam Al Mansouri, the first female pilot in the United Arab Emirates' Air Force, was reportedly a team leader in the airstrikes against ISIS in Syria. So, what did co-hosts of the Fox News show,  The Five , have to say about this? Oh, just the following: Kimberly Guilfoyle: "Hey ISIS, you were bombed by a woman... Oh yeah, hell came down on ISIS ins Syria because -- guess what -- the first female pilot, piloting for the UAE, leading the strikes. Dropped the bombs on ISIS on Monday night... I'll take a woman doing this any day to them. I hope that hurt extra bad because in some Arab countries, women can't even drive." Greg Gutfeld: "After she bombed it, she couldn't park it." For the third time in four weeks, at least six underdogs came through with victories in the NFL. Underdogs in three of the past four weeks have posted a 20-20-1 record against the favorites. I'm 23-17-1 in that span. I knew this past weekend was going to be especially bad considering two teams I picked were up by a combined score of 47-7 through 5+ quarters of play (one led 23-7 after 3+ quarters and another led 24-0 at halftime) and wound up providing me with an 0-1-1 record. Minnesota - one of my upset picks - led Green Bay 23-7 early in the 4th quarter before the Packers came back to tie it and send the game into overtime, which would eventually result in a 26-26 tie. Denver led New England 24-0 at the half, before falling behind 31-24 in the 4th quarter and then tying it to send the game to overtime. With little time remaining in the overtime period and Denver about to receive the ball, the game appeared to be headed for the second tie of the day, but the Broncos turned ...

Alright, so yes, the comeback was somewhat impressive and it's not like it's the first time this has happened. All hail Tim Tebow. Now that I got that out of the way, can we please put down the kool-aid for a second? Tim Tebow's numbers are quite misleading. He completed 21 of 40 pass attempts for 236 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception for a quarterback rating of 68.3. He also ran the ball 12 times for 49 yards and lost a fumble. Why do I say his numbers are misleading? The guy was 3 for 17 heading into the midway point of the 4th quarter. With the Bears up 10-0, they began playing prevent defense, which allowed Tebow to complete short- to intermediate-passes, as the Bears sacrificed the yards and completions for time. Also, the saying goes that sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
