The Little Ten's Big Failure of a Weekend

From Nebraska, to Michigan, to Ohio, I seem to always be in Big Ten country. Similar to other parts of the country with regard to their respective conferences, there are a lot of Big Ten homers in the area. I don't know how that can be the case after this past weekend's results. - Then unbeaten Illinois allowed 18 4th quarter points to blow a lead against South Florida, losing to the Bulls 25-19. - Unbeaten Maryland got pounded by winless Temple, 35-14. - Nebraska fell to Troy in Lincoln, 24-19. - Akron came back on the road to defeat Northwestern by the final of 39-34. - Purdue lost to Missouri at home, 40-37. - Rutgers got blown out by Kansas, yes, Kansas, 55-14. - The fighting Mormons, BYU, beat playoff sleeper Wisconsin 24-21. - Michigan State was off a week after dropping one in Temple against Arizona State (who lost to San Diego State this past Saturday night). - Michigan struggled in a win against SMU; Ohio State came THIS close to losing to TCU; Iowa d...

Tom Cotton won't be teaching world geography any time soon

Arkansas Senator and man front and center of the not-fully-accurate-yet-still-condescending-U.S. Constitution-lecture-to-Iran letter - Tom Cotton - engaged in the following back-and-forth with Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer on CBS regarding the matter over the weekend: Schieffer: "What do you want to happen here? What is your alternative here? Let's say that the deal falls through, then what?" Cotton: "Well, as Prime Minister Netanyahu said, the alternative to a bad deal is a better deal. The Iranians frequently bluff to walk away from the table. If they bluff this week, call their bluff. The Congress stands ready to impose much more sever sanctions. Moreover we have to stand up to Iran's attempts to drive for regional dominance. They already control Tehran, increasingly they control Damascus and Beirut and Baghdad and now Sana'a as well. They do all that without a nuclear weapon. Imagine what they would do with a nuclear weapon." Iran already ...

Facebook picture compares Barack Obama to Casey Anthony

This morning, I had the pleasure ::tries not to laugh:: of seeing a post on Facebook with a picture which said, "Obama lecturing us on gun rights is like getting parenting tips from Casey Anthony." I had to read this over several times and I imagine the look on my face was reminiscent of a person who just woke up at 6 am with a hangover, and is not exactly sure where they are. I suppose if we want to look at the comparison from a very vague, simplistic manner, then I suppose one could make the argument that since Casey Anthony was an awful parent, the post is merely trying to suggest that President Obama is an awful lecturer on gun rights. That's the only halfway feasible explanation I can come up with, however. Casey Anthony and her boyfriend appeared to be very careless with their daughter, which factored in to the child's death. They then allegedly attempted to cover up the girl's death out of sheer panic when they discovered she had indeed died. So no, i...
