Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, a Democrat, has, how do I put this? Dug himself into such a deep hole, he's calling for helicopters to pull him out of what he terms "The Second Grand Canyon." On Friday, it was reported that Northam was part of a racist photo printed in his yearbook. Why or how it took this long to dig up said photo is another matter entirely, but I digress. In this photograph, one man was wearing blackface and standing next to another individual decked out in a white hood and robe, disturbingly akin to the KKK's attire. At first, Northam apologized for being part of the photo. He contended that he was embarrassed, ashamed, and isn't the person today he was in 1984, when the picture was taken. On Saturday, he changed his story and said he wasn't sure if he was part of the photo. No, I'm not sure how a person could be uncertain about this either. Even with all the crazy things he's said in the past, 2016 Republican front-runner Donald Trump still continues to amaze me with the words which emanate from his mouth. In a recent Rolling Stone article regarding Trump, when the businessman saw fellow GOP candidate Carly Fiorina on television, he remarked, "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president. I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?" After receiving the inevitable backlash following the article's publication, Trump responded by saying the following to CNN's Chris Cuomo on New Day : "I'm not talking about her looks. Debbie Dunnegan Waters, Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds (Missouri), and yes, a Republican, recently posted this message on her Facebook page: "I have a question for all my friends who have served or are currently serving in our military ... have not put on a uniform nor taken any type military oath, there has to be something that I am just not aware of. But I cannot and do not understand why no action is being taken against our domestic enemy. I know he is supposedly the commander in chief, but the constitution gives you the authority. Republican Georgia Representative Phil Gingrey is thinking about making a Senate run, so you know what that means? It's time to backtrack on some words which could hurt him at the polls if he does indeed decide to run for the Senate. Remember Todd Akin? The guy who ran for a Missouri Senate seat, but lost largely due to his "legitimate rape" comments? Well, just two months ago, Representative Gingrey had this to say on the matter: "...And in Missouri, Todd Akin ... was asked by a local news source about rape and he said, 'Look, in a legitimate rape situation' - and what he meant by legitimate rape was just look, someone can say I was raped: a scared-to-death 15-year-old that becomes impregnated by her boyfriend and then has to tell her parents, that's pretty tough and might on some occasion say, 'Hey, I was raped.'
