I often times hear people resort to the Bible when it comes to making decisions, especially moral ones. I've also heard many such individuals claim that without religion, we'd experience moral chaos. I guess my question is why do so many people seem to depend on an ancient book for moral guidance? Why can't we think about things for ourselves and actually decide based on what we personally feel is right? It's not like I need the Bible's Commandment of "Thou shalt not kill" to know it's not acceptable to go around killing people. Setting: Awaking in bed some random morning My thoughts: "Hmm... Jackson - apparently released a book in 2008 entitled, Ten Commandments to an Extraordinary Life: Making Your Dreams Come True . On the front cover of this book reads the following title - Ten Comandments to an Extraordinary Life: Making Your Dreams Come True . That's right. The title on the front cover of Jackson's book is misspelled. Jackson's next book will probably be called Ten Comandments to Writing Good . These "Comandments" will likely be the following: 1. Former Green Bay Packers safety LeRoy Butler was scheduled to give an anti-bullying presentation at a church in Wisconsin this summer, but it appears as if his speech has been canceled, which Butler explained in a series of tweets. These tweets stated the following: "Wow, I was schedule to speak at a church in WI, and a member said that the pastor wants to cancel my event, I said ok why? Then I was told, because I said congrats to Jason Collins on twitter, I said really? we have a contract, he said check the moral cause. FYI the fee was 8500$, then I was told if i removed the tweet, and apologize and ask god forgiveness, I can have the event, I said no." So, Happy Easter, everyone! On that note, let me also say that this country - the United States of America - has never been, isn't now, and never will be a Christian nation. Sure, the majority of people in this country classify themselves as Christian. However, in my mind, that still doesn't make this country Christian any more than a disloyal husband saying he's faithful does. Let's look at The Ten Commandments and see how they apply to today's world in this country. 1) "I am the Lord thy God and thou shalt not have strange gods before me." I'd like to believe that most "Christians" in this country follow this commandment. However, it does seem that many of these self-described "Christians" worship money and/or material things more than God. 2) "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain."
