Colin Kaepernick criticized for wearing a Miami Dolphins hat

San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick has received some criticism in recent days due to him being spotted wearing a Miami Dolphins hat during a 4th of July celebration. Kaepernick responded to the criticism by tweeting the following message: "I'm goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won't let me in the building! #ridiculous #y'allmustbebored" I guess my response is, who the heck cares? It's not like Kaepernick is a free agent or trade bait or thinking about heading elsewhere at the moment. He likely wore the Dolphins hat just due to fashion -  he liked the colors, how it looked, etc. It means absolutely nothing as far as his loyalty to the San Francisco 49ers is concerned. If when playing against the Dolphins, he hands the ball off to a Miami defender several times during the course of a game and applauds ...

Ad says women wearing sweatpants will send men running... eh, no...

An online retailer, Piperlime, which is owned by GAP, released an ad which reads, " Every time you wear sweatpants in public, a single guy leaves New York." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/emma-gray/piperlime-ad-sweatpants_b_1161459.html The author of this article written by Emma Gray, said she took an unofficial poll on if the ad were in any way accurate. She asked many males about women in sweatpants and she said the majority of responses went something like this -  "Um ... I'm pretty sure I find girls in sweatpants attractive" and "Is that for real?" Don't worry about it ladies. This isn't true. We guys aren't too picky. To us, if you look good, you look good. We could really care less if you're wearing a skirt, dress, tank top and jeans, scrubs, sweatpants or astronaut costume. Typically, it seems as if women get all dressed up not so much to impress guys (because we typically don't care), but in a competition with other wom...

High Heels - Proof that some women are masochists (American football provides this evidence for males)

I read another study today which indicated that high heels are bad for a woman's health. This wasn't groundbreaking by any means, as I've read similar findings in a host of other such studies. So, I decided to do some further research on this topic and have to say, for the life of me, I can't understand why some women consistently wear high heels, especially the 3-4'' ones. Most women I know whom consistently wear heels do so because it makes them feel attractive and sexy, shows off more of their legs, makes them feel taller and more confident and because they think men feel this way too. Well, another study was released which stated that men don't notice women in heels any more or less than they notice women not wearing heels (http://newsfeed.time.com/2010/09/21/study-men-dont-notice-if-women-wear-high-heels/?hpt=Sbin). Being a man myself and knowing many other people of the same sex as I, I would say that I think this study is spot on. This isn't true ...

What is it with the new trend in sunglasses?

Seriously, what is it with the new trend in sunglasses - The Paris Hilton trend, as I call it? I went to a downtown festivity on a bright and sunny afternoon a while back and these shades could be seen at every which angle, on women from the ages of 6 to 56. What type of sunglasses am I referring to? Not the kind that give enough shade to both the right and left eye, no. The kind that give enough shade to both eyes, plus another four eyes. If it weren't for a person's hair and perhaps some other features, I'd think that I was on a planet infested by aliens, that or a series of Jeff Goldblum clones from "The Fly". I've never been much of a fashion buff, because I typically don't care. To each their own. Trends always change, so what's the point of altering one's style with the times, knowing that in two years, their current style will be in accord to the nationwide trend? But I don't understand how anyone could find these sunglasses cool or at...

Apparently, Socks Make the Man

I read an article recently which centered around first-date fashion advice for men. I am in no way a fashion expert and to be perfectly honest, I’m about as knowledgeable about fashion as meteorologists are about predicting the weather. Given all of that, though, I found some of the advice given in this article to be rather, oh, what’s the word? Stupid. There were five main points in the article: 1) Don’t wear khakis 2) Don’t wear striped dress shirts 3) Wear a shirt with some “color” (maroon, forest green and cobalt blue are the three that are mentioned and also stay away from neutrals and hot pink) 4) Show that you take care of your shoes (polish and remove scuff marks) 5) Wear socks with a pattern or design (such as hearts or diamonds) I’ll bypass the first three “tips”. I don’t necessarily agree with them, but found the quotes for the fourth and fifth pointers to be, eh, I’ll say interesting. Kelly Rae, fashion and grooming director of Stuff magazine, had this to sa...
