Republican male politicians really do need to start taking courses on how to speak to women, how to act around them, and how to respect them. Deep down, they may not feel as if their party has prompted a war against women, but often times their policy positions and mannerisms say differently. New Hampshire State Representative Steve Vaillancourt decided to continue this lovely trend, as he recently wrote a blog post comparing U.S. Representative Ann Kuster (Democrat - New Hampshire) with her Republican opponent, Marilinda Garcia, when it comes to their appearance and how it will likely affect the outcome of the election. In this post, he wrote these comments: - "Let's be honest, does anyone not believe that Congressman Annie Kuster is as ugly as sin? And I hope I haven't offended sin. Republican New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte was one of the many Republicans to vote down the Manchin-Toomey background check bill. Not long ago, she said she was skeptical that 90% of Americans actually support extended background checks as polls have consistently shown. Well, not long after her no vote on the bill, Ayotte's approval numbers have suffered quite considerably. In October, as surveyed by PPP (Public Policy Polling), Ayotte enjoyed a +13 approval rating (48-35). Her approval rating is now at -2 (44-46). That's a difference in net-approval of 15%. Of course, these numbers could very well be meaningless to Senator Ayotte, just like those which suggested that 90% of the country supported a bill which she helped to vote down. Hopefully reality finally bites her in the backside come 2016 when she faces re-election. The Republican Party has had a tough mountain to climb as far as winning over women voters. Most of the party has held steadfast on three issues very important to the fairer sex. They've: 1) ...tried to make abortion illegal in any and all cases, 2) ...tried to make it more difficult for women to get their birth control covered through employer-based insurance, and 3) ...fought against women receiving equal pay as men for performing the same jobs. In addition to all this, the party has been notorious for treating the act of rape as not that big of a deal. Republican New Hampshire state legislator, Mark Warden, just recently had some interesting words for the Concord Monitor , where he stated the following with regard to abusive relationships: "Some people could make the argument that a lot of people like being in abusive relationships. It's a love-hate relationship. It's very, very common for people to stick around with somebody they love who also abuses him or her." Sure, some people "could" make that argument, but they'd be idiots for doing so. It's fairly common for abused individuals to "stick around with somebody" not because they enjoy the abuse, but because through this abuse, their confidence and self-image have taken serious beatings as well, and they wind up feeling as though they deserve the abuse. With Democrats Maggie Hassan, Carol Shea-Porter, and Ann McLane Kuster being elected as governor and representatives of New Hampshire last Tuesday, in addition to Republican Kelly Ayotte and Democrat Jeanne Shaheen being the state's two Senators, the state became the first in U.S. history to have an all-female congressional delegation. Rumor has it that men all across The Granite State are frightened and pondering whether or not to stay in state or move to either Maine or Vermont. While many men in the Republican Party had cast a war against women in the run up to the election, that has resulted in the women of New Hampshire congressional delegation being able to cast a war against men in the state.
