As I was flipping through the channels while the countdowns were nearing zeroes on New Year's Eve, I couldn't help but notice something different about Fox News. On just about every other channel, on a bottom corner of the screen, it read, "New Year's Eve Bash" or "New Year's Eve Party." But, no, not Fox News. They decided to go a different direction. On the bottom right corner of their screen read the words, "All-American New Year's Eve Special." Yes, Fox News is special all right... Were the parties in Los Angeles and New York City not American enough for Fox News? Have they looked at a map in recent years? A globe? Anything where the two heaviest populated cities in the country could be spotted? Do they simply believe that adding "America" or "American" to anything deems one more patriotic than another? Are they the "real" Americans as opposed to all other networks? Yeah, like I said, Fox News certain...

What did you used to do on New Year's Eve when you were 7-, 8-, 9-years old? Play with dolls? Watch TV? Play video games? Have a sleep over with friends? Nothing different than any other weekend? I can't even remember what I did on New Year's Eve twenty some odd years ago. Chances are I was chilling at home, getting ready for the New Year's Day bowl games. Well, not all kids are like this, as I learned on Tuesday night at a Hilton hotel in Columbus, Ohio. When walking inside this rather upscale hotel, I noticed a few youngsters roaming about with their parents. I didn't think much of it at first until I came back to the hotel later that night after bar- and restaurant-hopping for a couple of hours. When I ventured inside, I noticed a group of 10 to 20 young kids with their parents not far from the bar area. When asking somebody up front about it, she said that one of the kids was having a birthday party and that he/she did the same thing a year ago. Really? Duri...

When I saw the trailer for Garry Marshall's "Valentine's Day" last year, I had to be rushed to the hospital, as I was suffering from Linda Blair complex and my eyes were stuck in the back of my head from rolling them so far. I could tell from the previews that it was going to be God-awful. I enjoy some romantic comedies, those that include good chemistry between the leads, genuine dialogue, solid acting and direction and a somewhat different twist to the very formulaic plot of the genre. I had a good hunch that "Valentine's Day" wasn't going to include any of those and critics agreed with me. Sadly, the movie made $110.0 million. On the site RottenTomatoes.com, 33 critics were showcased rating the film favorably, while 149 rated it poorly, an 18% favorable rating with an average score of 3.8 out of 10.
