I've always found it ironically comical that the Republican Party brands itself as the party of Christianity/God, high morals/ethics, family values, etc., for their actions and devolving beliefs run directly contrary to those very labels. Take the latest such poll to showcase this. It was conducted by The Daily Beast/IPSOS  and revolves around the Trump administration's zero-tolerance immigration policy. In the survey, participants were to mark their approval or disapproval based on this statement: "It is appropriate to separate undocumented immigrant parents from their children when they cross the border in order to discourage others from crossing the border illegally." Here's how some of the results broke down: Approval Overall: 27% (56% disapproval) Democrats: 14% Independents: 29% Republicans: 46% (32% disapproval) That's right; Republicans scored at a net +14%, while the general population scored at a net -29%, a difference of a whopping 43 ...

After arguably the most grueling primary season in American history, conservative Christian Republican voters have decided to go with Satan as their party's nominee for November's presidential election. Erick Bennett is a Maine Republican who's looking to potentially become incumbent Senator Susan Collins' primary challenger in the coming election season. Bennett describes himself as "pretty much a cut-and-dry Republican," is claiming that his ideas are based on a "pro-family" agenda, and recently had this to say about the federal government: "We must have honest conversations about the constant abuses of power and violations of our civil liberties that are going on at the hands of this government." On that note, speaking of family and abuse, Mr. Bennett served some time in jail after he was convicted of a Class D assault in 2003 for attacking his wife. Things could get a little awkward over the holidays at the Cheney's place. Liz Cheney - daughter of former Vice President and Darth Vader clone Dick Cheney - is running for a U.S. Senate seat in Wyoming as a Republican. Even though her sister, Mary, has come out of the closet and is married to Heather Poe, Liz hasn't been coy about her opposition to gay marriage. In response, Ms. Poe shared the following comment on Facebook: "I was watching my sister-in-law on Fox News Sunday (yes Liz, in fifteen states and the District of Columbia you are my sister-in-law) and was very disappointed to hear her say 'I do believe in the traditional definition of marriage.' It appears as if former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford will be holding office once again, as he won a special election last night to represent South Carolina's 1st district in the House of Representatives. Keep in mind that Sanford is just two years removed from confessing that he had been cheating on his wife and even had to reimburse taxpayers for some of his travels to and from Argentina where his soul-mate-on-the-side resided. Also keep in mind that Sanford is a member of the Republican Party, which prides itself on being the party of God, faith, family values, traditional marriage, etc., and has moved so far to the right, cult leaders have even begun to say, "We want nothing to do with them! Just a few days ago, Republican Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey blamed President Obama for the failed background check bill he co-sponsored with Democratic West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, saying: "I would suggest the administration brought this on themselves. I think the president ran his re-election campaign in a divisive way. He divided Americans. He was using resentment of some Americans toward others to generate support for himself." In a heated exchange between Republican House Speaker John Boehner and Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid regarding the fiscal cliff last Friday, supposedly the following exchange took place: Boehner: "Go f**k yourself." Reid: "What are you talking about?" Boehner: "Go f**k yourself." Yes, a man representing the supposed party of family values told a man representing the supposed party of Satan to go f**k himself twice. I'm still amazed on how so many Republicans win elections just by telling people that they love God, have family values, are pro-life and are anti-gay marriage. They play the Christian "moral" card. "Vote for me. I'll be a good role model for your kids and will move this country in the manner God would want. I know, because I magically lived life back when Jesus did and wrote most of The Bible on his behalf." The reason I think this is so ridiculous is that every person makes mistakes. We can preach all we'd like that we're "one with God," yet that doesn't make it so and doesn't negate any mistakes we've made or will continue to make in our lives. When I went in for an interview a while back regarding a book of mine, my gut instinct told me not to get into any discussions about politics. I came to find out that day, as usual, my gut was correct and thank God I didn't talk or debate politics during the interview. A name the interviewer kept bringing up was that of James Dobson.
