The best Indian restaurant in Columbus, OH - Curry Kabab Handi Biryani!

I've been to roughly 40 different Indian restaurants in the Columbus/Metro area, and this is the very best. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't be hyperbole for me to say, unequivocally, this is the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Their dishes are bursting with flavor, with just the right amount of heat to add to the delicious experience. Even the chicken pakora, which can be a little plain at times, void of chutney sauces, has a unique and fantastic flavor all its own. Every dish I've tried here has been extraordinary, and I can't wait to try more! Highly, highly recommended!  https://handibiriyany.com/

When the country is more concerned about the concealed carry of sugar than guns

Since 1972, worldwide there have been 18,483 fatalities via plane crash. Since 2001, there have been 3,222 fatalities in the United States via terrorism, 2,902 of those occurring on September 11th of 2001. Combined, that's 21,705 fatalities. So, on average, there are approximately 528 deaths via plane crash worldwide every year and 190 deaths via terrorism in the United States on an annual basis. If we were to strip 9/11 from said equation, that average would decrease to 20 per year. Even if we go with the high end of that range, the two variables would combine for an average of 718 deaths every year. In other words, it's probably more likely for a person to die by getting struck by lightning than for him/her to die in a plane crash or by an act of terror. Yet we seem to be more paranoid than ever of being victimized by these lottery-jackpot odds, enough so that we've nonchalantly allowed our freedoms to be infringed for a false sense of security. I say this because of a ...

Breaking the top 100!

As long-time readers know, I've put forth a great deal of time and effort in attempting to garner recognition for my writing/satire. It's been an incredibly gradual, sometimes frustrating process, but I've definitely taken some positive steps toward my goal(s). Just this morning, for example, I discovered I've broken the top 100 of Columbus, Ohio Twitter users when it comes to number of followers (https://compute.info/rank/twitter/columbus): 1) Cory Gregory: 695,459 2) Skip Prichard: 396,553 3) Urban Meyer: 387,654 4) Top Ten Percent: 374,981 5) Ohio State Buckeyes: 343,528 6) Tech Decade: 318,517 7) Bath & Body Works: 286,125 8) NHL Blue Jackets: 270,067 9) Ezekiel Elliott: 265,219 10) Ohio State Buckeyes (yes, again): 254,380 13) Ohio State Football: 222,011 16) Trey Burke: 181,142 18) 10TV.com: 176,600 19) Ohio State: 176,085 25) Brutus Buckeye: 125,220 33) Columbus Crew SC: 99,161 35) Arnold Sports: 93,384 38) NBC4 Columbus: 89,629 39) Columb...

Local hospital reviews

As mentioned in recent posts, I've unfortunately had to battle some health issues in recent weeks, which landed me in a pair of hospitals on four separate occasions. For those who reside in the area, I thought I'd provide brief reviews of the two hospitals. Grady Memorial Hospital 561 W. Central Ave. Delaware, OH 43015 (740) 615-1000 https://www.ohiohealth.com/grady/ Experience Summary: This is the hospital closest to me, so from a convenience standpoint, this is my best option in case of a medical emergency. I was rushed there via an ambulance on December 26th and had to be driven there on January 10th and 12th. When I went here in 2011 for a gallbladder surgery, my experience was mostly positive. However, the three times I've needed help at this facility in the past few weeks has left a bad taste in my mouth. As I was rushed here on the 26th, I was enduring a serious panic attack - the first of my life. My pulse was between 150 and 155, my blood pressure was eleva...

Central Ohio Indian restaurant reviews (UPDATED 1/5/19)

Up until about 12 years ago when I was living in Omaha (Nebraska), I had never tried Indian food. My parents recommended I give it a gander, and once I did, I became hooked. I've reached the point where I may have to attend IFA (Indian Food Anonymous) meetings, because if I don't eat it at least once a week, I start having (similar to nic-) fits. Since moving to the Columbus (Ohio) area, I've tried a dozen different Indian restaurants and thought I'd provide some brief reviews for anyone interested in trying the cuisine for the first time or for anyone in the central Ohio area looking for a suggestion on such a restaurant. As four of them have closed, I'll rank the restaurants in descending order, starting with #8: 12.  New India  ( http://www.newindiarestaurant.com/ ): If you're in the mood for an Indian buffet but are a tad short on money, this is the place to go. I'd give the buffet's variety an average grade (there are more non-vegetarian than vege...

Americans: "Africa? Huh? What is that, like, a country or something?"

When Christopher Columbus came to the U.S. thinking it was India and, still to this day, many people refer to Native Americans as "Indians," it seemed all but inevitable that Americans would excel at geography like Rip Van Winkle excelled at speed-dating. Case and point, it appears as if some schools, in light of the Ebola outbreak in Africa, feel that the continent is one country, as opposed to 47 countries. The thing is, this outbreak has broke out in just 3 of the 47 countries in Africa (6.4%). According to my math, that leaves 44 of 47 countries in Africa Ebola-free (93.6%). However, these wild numbers haven't seemed to cease the panic any at some schools. In New Burlington, New Jersey, two Rwandan students are being forced to stay home due to the school's and parents' paranoia they'll magically infect kids with Ebola. Judging by the map and those crazy numbers again, Rwanda is about as close to a country fighting the Ebola outbreak as New York City is...

Christopher Columbus paved the way for a geographically-challenged nation!

Christopher Columbus thought he was in India, so he referred to the people there as Indians. That makes sense. However, he wasn't in India; he was in America. So, while "Native Americans" isn't the perfect term to describe that group of people, it seems far more appropriate than Indians, which comes across as kind of silly to me. That would be like if the following scenarios occurred: - A person sails to Africa thinking it's America. From that time forth, certain people in Africa are referred to as Americans. - Someone sails to Japan thinking it's Australia. Certain folks in Japan have since been called Australians. - A delusional man sets sail to Ireland thinking it's Mars. Ireland is now full of Martians! Maybe this is why Americans are notoriously bad at geography. Christopher Columbus just paved the way for the rest of us! Hooray for Columbus Day! Columbus - the capital of Ohio, which is, where is that again? Crap, where's my globe? Where...

Oh, the irony...

So I met up with my girlfriend and some of her family at the Columbus Arts Festival yesterday afternoon. I brought with me a proof copy of my new book LOL at the GOP - Volume 3: Guns Don't Kill, Cars Don't Drive, and Ovens Don't Bake . In case my girlfriend parked close by, I wanted to show her the book when all was said and done. She didn't park anywhere near where I did, so that didn't happen. But upon returning to the car after looking at the art work, I noticed a flier which appeared to be placed on every car in that particular parking lot. On the flier read the following: "Cap City Firearms - Protect Yourself, Home and Family. 'Ohio's premier conceal carry training' Conceal & Carry Course Our concealed carry course is now only $99.00 limited time! If you pre-register at www.capcityfirearms.com Also covered: Basic firearm safety, firearm storage/types, pistol mechanisms/operation, shooting skills, pistol maintenance NRA Certified I...

Muse's March 5th performance at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio

Thanks to Google and YouTube, I was able to piece together the concert my girlfriend and I attended this past Tuesday night. All of the clips are pretty solid in terms of both picture and sound, but some do appear to be a bit far away from the stage. The clips definitely don't provide for the same kind of experience as an in-person one, but they're pretty great regardless. Enjoy! 1. "Supremacy" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7c3Kdv6Cmao 2. Strange Muse concert review (Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH - 3/5/13)

I often times don't understand concert reviews. I prefer to read film reviews, because most of the time, a general layout will be provided, so I can decide whether or not I should pay money to see the film. I'll then look at the critics' overall grade to perhaps place the final push on whether I should see the film in the theater, wait until it arrives on video, or bypass it all together. Most of the time, though, film reviews are productive to an extent, because they give the reader at least a decent outline of the film, so they can decide on their own whether or not to see it. With concert reviews, it's often times a different story. Music seems to be more polarizing than film. I've heard of fights erupting when people argue who's better - the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. If a certain artist's name gets mentioned, one person may moan before fainting, while another will see steam emanate from their scalp and they'll scream with more fury than I imagin...
