I just wrote a piece which showcased a couple of recent cases where the PC-police went too far. Here now are three even more recent cases where that was anything but the case. I'll start with Alex Jones, who had this to say with regard to the Las Vegas massacre: "About 20 minutes ago, ISIS took responsibility for the attacks, and the police have confirmed that he had -- the reported shooter had recently personally threatened them and posted videos threatening them, saying that he had joined ISIS, joined Al Qaeda, and that he was basically a leftist, just like [alleged NSA leaker] Reality Winner, and just like so many others that had converted to Islam, that was so angry about Trump and everything that was happening that he went out and carried out this attack. Now, again, clearly it looks like he had help, but we saw the October 1st event of the 100 years of the Bolshevik Revolution coming up, and I had been predicting starting October 1st that we'd see terror attacks....

While I may get some heat for this from fellow progressives, I think it's incredibly important for us to be consistent with our criticisms of members from both parties, and with that, we don't hold double-standards for the simple fact we may typically agree or disagree with a politician's or commentator's opinions. In saying that, I have to call out both conservative Caitlyn Jenner and liberal Joy Reid for their recent comments regarding the Steve Scalise shooting. While I typically enjoy Ms. Reid's show and don't ascribe to Ms. Jenner's talking points, I feel I have to treat both equally. Jenner joked about the shooting, saying, "Fortunately, the guy was a really bad shot. Liberals can't even shoot straight." Reid, on the other hand, had this to say about the Republican representative: "It's a delicate thing because, obviously everybody is wishing the congressman well and hoping that he recovers. Following the San Bernardino shooting last week where 14 were killed and 21 others wounded, which the FBI is investigating as an act of terrorism, President Barack Obama said it was time to pass stricter laws in order to make it more difficult for terrorists to perform acts of terror within this country. Republicans quickly shot back, saying, "It's too soon to talk about terrorism," as well as, "Don't listen to the Democrats trying to use this terrorist act to set forth a political agenda." When I caught up with some of the GOP's leading presidential candidates, here's what they had to say about the matter: - "Bombs don't kill people; terrorists with bombs kill people." - Marco Rubio - "The only way to stop a bad terrorist with a gun is a good terrorist with a gun." - Ted Cruz - "No matter what terrorism laws we implement, terrorists are going to find a way to break those laws, so why harm the rights of law-abiding ...

Conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg wrote an article this morning on which I felt the need to comment, published by the Los Angeles Times  and entitled, "Was Robert Lewis Dear inspired by the Planned Parenthood videos? So what if he was?" Yes, that's the actual title. It only gets better. Goldberg's article starts with this: "'No more baby parts.' As of this writing, that statement by Robert Lewis Dear is the only evidence that the 'Planned Parenthood shooter' in Colorado Springs, Colo., was motivated by anti-abortion rhetoric. Dear's comment came amid a rambling interview, and law enforcement officials have not said what his motivations were." Well, that's more evidence than conservatives have of the controversial Planned Parenthood videos proving the family planning organization sells baby's parts, of climate change being a hoax, or of gun regulation having no impact on gun violence. Typically when I comment about Facebook memes, it's because they're lacking in accuracy, have gone viral, and I feel the need to fact-check them. The polar opposite was true of a recent such post I read, which I felt was so brilliant, I needed to share it. Due to police officers Darren Wilson and Daniel Pantaleo not being indicted for the killings of two unarmed black men, Michael Brown and Eric Garner, there has been a nationwide protest against police brutality in recent weeks. Now, just days removed from the tragic killings of New York City police officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, the GOP has made its opinion heard loud and clear on the matter: "It's the protesters' fault!" That's right; the party of "freedom" has decried people of practicing their First Amendment rights through peaceful protests (for the most part) against police brutality and blamed them for the murders of two police officers, whose job it is to protect our lives, and with that, our freedoms. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani had this to say about the matter: "We've had four months of propaganda, starting with the president, that everybody should hate the police. In Houston, Texas on Monday, 20-year-old Patrick Sanders' gun fell out of his pants while he was sleeping on the couch. A 3-year-old boy picked up the pistol and shot Sanders in the face with it. While Sanders is in critical condition, the boy wasn't injured. In light of this bit of news, the NRA will most likely respond with one of the following lines: - "A baby with a gun has more fun!" - "Crawl and fight!" - "Gun control means using both hands - one on the gun and one on the milk bottle!" - "Guns don't kill people; toddlers with guns kill people!" - "The only way to stop a bad toddler with a gun is a good toddler with a gun!" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/28/houston-man-shot-in-face-by-toddler_n_6057110.html

If there's one word most people associate with the NRA, it's "classy." How could we not? A little over a week ago, a 9-year-old girl in Arizona accidentally shot and killed a gun range instructor whom was attempting to show her how to shoot an Uzi. Not even two days after that tragedy unfolded, NRA Women tweeted the following message: "'7 Ways Children Can Have Fun at the Shooting Range' via @TeamWON. On Monday, Nicholas Kristof wrote an article which delved into the Ferguson, Missouri shooting, as well as racism in this country, entitled, "Even people who support racial equality show bias." To say that conservative pundit Ben Stein has seriously lost it is not really open for debate. To say he ever had "it" in the first place is quite debatable. Just last week, Stein appeared on Newsmax to discuss the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, where he made the following statements: - "He wasn't unarmed. He was armed with his incredibly strong, scary self." - "It's a very sad state of affairs. I mean it used to be, there was a time ... when lynchings of African-Americans were not that incredibly rare. Now the lynchings are the police and it's just an outrage." - "...it's the very large, so-called victim attacking the policeman who winds up dead." For as long as I can remember, I've contended that Fox News is as perplexed about bias as a newborn is about quantum physics. A recent segment of theirs regarding the Michael Brown shooting once again lends credence to that theory (closer to fact). First of all, allow me to define "bias" for those at Fox News. Bias is "to cause partiality or favoritism in (a person); influence, especially unfairly." On Monday's Fox & Friends , the following was a headline used to prompt discussion: "Media Bias: Is 'Unarmed Teen' Description Misleading?" Starting next year, next to the words "insensitive," "jerk," "prick," and "douche" in the dictionary will be a picture of Samuel Wurzelbacher, or as he's better known, Joe the Plumber. Following the recent Santa Barbara shooting rampage, Wurzelbacher wrote an open letter to the victims' families, where he actually said this: "I am sorry you lost your child. I myself have a son and daughter and the one thing I never want to go through, is what you are going through right now. But: As harsh as this sounds -- your dead kids don't trump my Constitutional rights." He then claimed that pro-gun control activists "don't care about your family or your dead children at all," before following that up with this: "They sound like they do, whereas I sound uncaring and like I say, harsh. Don't be fooled - I care about your family and mine. The future of our very liberty lies in the balance of this fight....

Remind me to not wear a hoodie in Florida. In fact, remind me to not travel to the state until the Stand Your Ground law is repealed. Trying to one-up George Zimmerman, Claudius Smith of Orlando recently shot and killed 21-year-old Ricardo Sanes, who was running away from Smith. Sanes had climbed the fence and gone into the neighbors' yard when Smith followed, shot, and killed him. After the incident, Smith told the authorities that he felt threatened, because Sanes' "pants were falling down" and his hands were in the pockets of, you guessed it, a hoodie. He's hoping the state's Stand Your Ground law applies to him and no charges come his way as a result. I'm not going to talk about this very in-depthly again, but it boggles my mind how Claudius Smith could come out of this without any charges being placed against him. What's the deal recently with Florida cops or wannabe cops shooting unarmed black people? First, George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting and killing of unarmed Trayvon Martin, because, well, it's purely self-defense to follow someone you find suspicious after being told not to do so by actual cops and then when the person being stalked feels threatened and defends himself, to shoot and kill him. That's self-defense 101 right there. More recently, Florida police officers fired 15 shots at unarmed 60-year old Roy Middleton in the driveway of his and his mother's home. There was a 911 call that evening for a car theft. Once the cops arrived at the scene and Middleton turned around, thinking the whole thing was a practical joke played by a neighbor, the cops opened fire on him and wound up shooting him in the leg, while also striking his mother's car and the side of the house. Conservative radio talk show host, conspiracy-enthusiast, and full-time douche - Pete Santilli - recently made the following remarks on his show with regard to the Benghazi attack and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: "I want to shoot her right in the vagina and I don't want her to die right away; I want her to feel the pain and I want to look her in the eyes and I want to say, on behalf of all Americans that you've killed, on behalf of the Navy SEALS, the families of Navy SEAL Team Six who were involved in the fake hunt down of this Obama, Obama bin Laden thing, that whole fake scenario, because these Navy SEALS know the truth, they killed them all. I don't know what to even say about this next story I recently read about. In Burkesville, Kentucky yesterday, a 5-year old boy accidentally shot and killed his 2-year old sister with a .22-caliber rifle he received "as a gift." Cumberland Country Coroner Gary White told the Lexington Herald-Leader that, "...the gun was kept in a corner and the family didn't realize a shell was left inside it." Upon reading this very sad article, I have a couple of questions for the parents. First off, who in the world buys their 5-year old kid a gun? Secondly, who thinks that leaving a gun in the corner of a room will make it child-proof? While I'll again say it's nearly impossible to legislate against stupidity, I'm seriously starting to believe that it should be made mandatory for people to take IQ and common sense tests before they're allowed to purchase a firearm. Christopher Stanlane - a 34-year old resident of Fairmont, North Carolina - accidentally shot and killed his 10-year old son while cleaning his shotgun on Sunday afternoon. The father was said to be cleaning his shotgun while on the couch and his son was in front of him watching television when the gun went off and struck the boy in his head, which killed him instantly. With the investigation ongoing, no charges have been filed to this point. I have so many questions for the father upon reading this story. First off, why in the world would he not check to make sure his gun wasn't loaded before cleaning it? Next, why wouldn't he make sure to point the gun away from anyone, regardless of whether or not it was loaded? Lastly, why would he not go about this in a different room than where his 10-year old son resided? This guy obviously didn't have proper training and at this point in his life, was much too careless and uneducated to be owning a firearm. This is one reason wh...

Gun rights die-hards have really found themselves in a pickle these past couple weeks. In light of the tragic Sandy Hook elementary school shooting, where 20 six- and seven-year old kids were shot and killed by a man with a .223 Bushmaster, gun control measures have been gaining steam both in the eyes of the American public and Congress. Of course, the words "gun control" to these very gun rights die-hards are the equivalent to the words "I'm pregnant" to 99.43% of the adult male population. Without even thinking about what the possible legislation could be, many of these gun rights activists immediately go into a panic when hearing the words "gun control."
