The Douche of the Week speaks!

Just last week, I awarded Hill columnist Joe Concha with Douche of the Week for his piece, "Time fumbles another Person of the Year' by excluding Kavanaugh." After posting about this on Twitter, Mr. Concha actually responded. Here's how our brief back-and-forth basically went: Him: "Do you know the criteria for the award?" Me: "'The person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.' So, to answer your question, yes." Me: "The only way Kavanaugh affected my life was by prompting immature laughter at a new term I learned courtesy of him - boofing ." Him: "If you have a beef with it, take it up with Time then." Him: "How did Hitler and Stalin win the award then?" Me: "I didn't write a column about a beef I had with it; you did. Project much?" Him: "This has to be the dumbest attempt at a conversation I'v...

Can't we all just get along (meaning Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders supporters)?

While I had voted before, I didn't get seriously involved with politics until the 2008 election. My first election was in 2000 (when I was 19). I was in college, was focused more on partying and chasing girls than current events, and while I knew I leaned to the left, I didn't care a great deal about the world of politics. That all changed on 9/11 (when I was 20) when reality struck me (most of us) smack dab in the face and heart. I, and probably many others, was incredibly naive at that point in my life. I was a college kid, trying to find myself, trying to find what I wanted to do with my life, busy meeting new people, dating, and enjoying some semblance of independence/adulthood. Through all that, never did I think to myself we'd get struck by terrorists, we'd wage a seemingly endless war and lose thousands of our soldiers in the process, and my life would forever change by the horrific events on September 11th of 2001. Like most Americans, I was at a loss, uncertain...

Republicans hope amnesia is contagious

As I've done all throughout this election season, I watched both Republican debates on Tuesday night. If there three themes from GOP debate #4, they were: 1) 99% of responses must include the name "Hillary Clinton" at least once, 2) Deflect to success should be one of the Republican Party's slogans, and 3) It's the GOP's wish that amnesia is contagious. Here now is a satire on how I viewed the debates from Tuesday night. Neil Cavuto: "Welcome to the fourth Republican presidential debate. I want all of the candidates to relax, have fun, and feel reassured I won't be coming at them with too many gotcha questions, After all, I still plan on taking you all out to that club later in the evening for free lap-dances...which I will be providing. On that note, let's start with Donald Trump. Mr. Trump, how do you feel about Democrats' push to raise the minimum wage to $15?" Donald Trump: "It's stupid, just like everything else that ...
