It seems like from the beginning of time, women have been sexually objectified. Even in contemporary society, when more women are graduating from college than men, are slowly finding themselves with more power, even to the point when one could soon become president, they are still often times sexually objectified. The question is often asked, "Who's fault is it mainly? Women's for wearing provocative clothing, or men's for being natural hornballs?" In my opinion, men are more at fault for this, but both sexes have to take some responsibility. Women should never be seen nor treated like sexual objects. However, if one is wearing extremely showy clothing, unfortunately, there are some (men and women) whom will see them as such. I got into a conversation with a couple people very close to me recently and while I was able to keep my cool, as usual, I almost went ballistic on them. We were talking about family, and when discussing three specific family members and how we've kind of drifted apart from them through the years, the conversation soon transitioned to rape. Unfortunately, all three of these individuals were raped at one point or another, and also unfortunately, I've noticed differences in their behavior years after the horrific incidents - most likely due to said incidents. For one reason or another, both people whom were accompanying me basically spoke in unison with one another and said, "It just makes you wonder why that is. I mean, all three of them? They all show a lot of cleavage. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I'm not saying it's right or anything, but they were kind of asking for it." When it comes to most things, I'm fairly progressive (the evil "L" word) - whether it be in the realm of politics or arts and entertainment. I've seen the likes of Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, and Kiss perform live if that tells you anything. However, when it comes to the topic of sex, I'm a bit more moderate or even slightly conservative (as far as the literal definition goes, not the political one). I've never been tempted to live a promiscuous lifestyle, have never accepted a woman's proposition for a one-night stand (and I've received several), and don't find myself attracted to women whom engage in this kind of behavior or reveal more cleavage than clothing with the outfits they wear.  That brings me to the much discussed Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke performance at the MTV Video Music Awards a couple of nights ago (why MTV still has a VMA show is beyond me considering they show about as many music videos as the Hallmark Channel shows Oscar...
