They're all old, rich, white, and disapprove of black NFL players protesting oppression pre-game during the National Anthem. Also, their attempt to appear patriotic is nothing more than a charade. All they really care about is power and money. According to the U.S. flag code, these five men consistently disrespect the flag by using it in advertising, apparel, and presenting it in a flat and horizontal manner. They have absolutely no room to talk when it comes to patriotism. The flag may symbolize freedom, represent a free and great country to them, but their ancestors were never brought here from Africa as slaves. They never had to place their lives at risk in order to be provided the right to vote. They've never had to fear authority figures following and suspecting them of wrong doing due to the color of their skin. While I'm not going to debate either Slate columnist Aisha Harris or Fox News host Megyn Kelly on whether or not we should replace the Christmas mascot of Santa Claus (yes, I see him as a mascot) with a penguin or something else, I would like to briefly comment on one quote of Ms. Kelly's with regard to Harris' column. On Kelly's show earlier this week, she said this: "For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white. But this person is just arguing that maybe we should also have a black Santa. But Santa is what he is. Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't mean it has to change, you know? I mean, Jesus was a white man too. He was a historical figure, that's a verifiable fact, as is Santa - I just want the kids watching to know that." Now, if we go by the story we've been told time and time again about Christmas and Santa Claus living in the North Pole, chances are he'd be almost as white as the snow we see around this ...
