What I Witnessed at Trump's First Non-State of the Union State of the Union Speech

1) Social Security Trumped at 200: The main reason Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race was because of his ubiquitously panned debate performance against Donald Trump. What stood out to most viewers was not the contrast in policy proposals; it was the contrast in energy. Joe Biden looked and sounded old. Donald Trump, while old, possessed a much greater level of energy. That was one of his calling cards throughout the campaign - "Look and listen to Biden; he's old. He falls down. He has dementia. Look how much younger I appear than him." The first thing I noticed on Tuesday night was how old Trump looked and sounded. Gone was the enthusiasm. Gone was the energy. He sounded weak, tired, ill. There's been much speculation regarding his health throughout his first month and a half in office. From hand bruises, to trouble walking, to a significant decrease in spoken pace, rumors have circulated - anything from heart problems to syphilis. I can't confirm nor deny any such rumors. All I can say for now is the once exuberant Donald Trump looks and sounds about as frail as Joe Biden did at their debate. Perhaps he needs a booster.

2) Straight to Voice-Mail: Democrats have, in large part, displayed a cluelessness not seen since movie theaters in 1995. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are actively destroying the federal government; ruining people's lives in the process; consistently displaying fascistic tendencies, and Democrats, perhaps in a state of shock, are twiddling their thumbs, searching for some answers. Now, I will say I disagree with many fellow liberals and Democrats that the party should have boycotted Trump's speech or more, following Al Green's lead, should have heckled the dear orange leader. To me, this does more harm than good. The only good it could potentially do is inspire Democratic voters to fork over money to the party. That's it. To the average voter, though, it comes across as rude, immature, and disrespectful. Look, I get it - Trump constantly disrespects the rule of law and Constitution, so why should he be shown any semblance of respect? However, the average voter doesn't see things as such. Hell, the average voter probably didn't even watch the speech, but will be bombarded with the CliffsNotes rendition the following 24-48 hours. What will these headlines and short video clips show? Al Green's heckling; Democrats not standing for a child-survivor of brain cancer; Democrats walking out during the speech. People are politically uneducated. Perception is everything. Perception not matching reality is irrelevant, and Democrats do themselves no favors with the general public when perception leads people to see and believe Democrats acting childishly during Donald Trump's speech. Also, wearing pink as a protest? Just as I've criticized Republicans for symbolic gestures, I'll hold Democrats to the same standard. What benefit does it serve? Enough with the empty rhetoric and symbolic gestures. Fight tyranny with reality, with a vision, with motivation, with legislation. Never did I read, "...and Nazis were ultimately defeated by the opposition's choice of sneakers."

3) No U for Trump: It's no wonder Donald Trump loves the "poorly educated," for he's one of them. The guy showcased, no matter how many times he may utter the word, he does not understand what a 'tariff' is, what it does, nor whom it impacts. He's apparently never heard of the country 'Lesotho' (it resides in South Africa). Oh, and he also confused 'transgenic' with "transgender mice." Yes, really.

4) beLIEve: I counted 259 lies mumbled by Donald Trump on Tuesday night. That averages out to approximately a lie told every 20 seconds, as Dingleberry Don spoke for 90 bigly long minutes. Some of my favorites have to be:

    1. “The American Dream is unstoppable, and our country is on the verge of a comeback the likes of which the world has never witnessed, and perhaps will never witness again.”

Riiight, because all the comparisons between today's Trump economy and those from COVID and the Great Recession is always a sign of a comeback for the ages! Not.

    2. “The presidential election of November 5th was a mandate like has not been seen in many decades.”

Really? It was the largest popular-vote victory since Joe Biden's 2020 win over Trump. Even Hillary Clinton, in 2016, defeated Trump by more votes than he defeated Kamala Harris 4 months ago. As far as electoral votes go, Obama bested Trump's 2024 total in both 2008 and 2012. Someone needs to tell The Donald 4 years and 12 years don't constitute as "many decades." So, who's gonna tell him? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

    3. “In fact, it has been stated by many that the first month of our presidency, it's our presidency, is the most successful in the history of our nation.”

The guy has been in office for what, 45 days? More jobs have been cut in that time-frame than at any time since COVID. More jobs were cut last month than any February since the recession. Prices are continuing to rise, at least in part due to Trump's inexplicable trade-war with our allies. Commercial planes are crashing at a historic pace. Search "antonyms of successful" and you'll find a much more accurate depiction of where our country stands at this very moment.

    4. “We ended all of Biden’s environmental restrictions that were making our country far less safe”

Read this statement over again. Again. One more time. WTF? Environmental restrictions making us less safe? What in the Sam hill is this guy smoking? 'Restriction' can be translated as "protection" in this instance. In other words, protecting our environment, which protects us, is somehow making us less safe. Yeah, try explaining that one.

    5. “And I have stopped all government censorship”

Yet he's been railing against college-campus protests; claiming they should be illegal; and even going so far as to say foreign-exchange students who engage in them should get deported. Trump's as pro-free speech as Jeffrey Dahmer was vegan.

    6. “cycling, where a male recently finished a long-distance race five hours and 14 minutes ahead of a woman for a new record by five hours.”

It was 5 minutes, not 5 hours. Donald Trump mistook 5 minutes for 300 minutes. It's no wonder he wants to dismantle the Department of Education. Taking a page out of his, I'll be nice and say "book," Trump obviously maths better than anyone the world has ever seen!

    7. “and the days of rule by unelected bureaucrats are over.”

Meet Elon Musk. Elon Musk has never been elected to political office. Elon Musk is the richest person in the world. Elon Musk has been appointed to head a make-believe governmental department, which is somehow destroying the United States federal government. Oh, but anyway, Donald, what were saying about unelected bureaucrats no longer having a say in our government? That's what I thought...

5) Appetite for Destruction: Donald Trump has two goals in mind this term: 1) To get revenge on all those he feels wronged him, and 2) To profit at the expense of American citizens. There's a common denominator with all of Trump's directed federal-layoffs thus far - he felt betrayed by them. Judges, the FBI, CIA, the mainstream media, internet, you name a company or agency which said anything even semi-critical about Trump over the past decade, they're currently feeling, or at least fearing his tyrannical wrath. Unfortunately, he feels betrayed by the country, so he feels it's his mission to destroy the United States. Yes, he really is that petty. The man-baby may try to talk tough, but he has to be one of the most delicate snowflakes in U.S. history. Fragile Frump. It's French.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Trump's Lie Tally at the CNN Debate

1) "We had the greatest economy in the history of our country. We had never done so well. Every – everybody was amazed by it. Other countries were copying us." 2) "But the thing we never got the credit for, and we should have, is getting us out of that COVID mess." 3) "The only jobs he created are for illegal immigrants and bounceback jobs; they’re bounced back from the COVID." 4) "Not going to drive them higher. It’s just going to cause countries that have been ripping us off for years, like China and many others, in all fairness to China – it’s going to just force them to pay us a lot of money, reduce our deficit tremendously, and give us a lot of power for other things." (tariffs) 5) "He also said he inherited 9 percent inflation." 6) "No, he inherited almost no inflation and it stayed that way for 14 months. And then it blew up under his leadership, because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn’t know what t...
