A funny tale brought to you by irony (...and surprisingly, not The Onion)

Please allow me to introduce everyone to Jonathan Saenz. Not only is Mr. Saenz an uber-conservative Catholic attorney, but he is also the president of a group by the name of Texas Values - an anti-abortion and anti-LGBT group which is dedicated to "preserving and advancing a culture of family values in the state of Texas." In August of 2011, Mr. Saenz's now ex-wife - Corrine Morris Rodriguez Saenz - decided to divorce Jonathan after being married to him for almost 10 years. Why did she decide this was the best move? Oh, it just so happens that Ms. Rodriguez-Saenz left her anti-LGBT husband for a woman by the name of Ercimin Paredes. Yes, Jonathan Saenz, a man who has supported the concept of gay conversion therapy, has said that legalizing gay marriage could lead the way to legalizing incest and polygamy, and is president of the anti-LGBT group Texas Values, was left by his ex-wife for a woman. Does anyone else get tired of Facebook statuses which read something like, "My (fill-in-the-blank) is the best in the whole world!"? Yeah, me too...

Well, according to Facebook statuses I see, there are hundreds of people whom qualify as the best boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife EVER! That's great that these people are allegedly happy (sometimes, I wonder if it's all for show), but really? I have to say, I get a little tired of the, "OMG! He/She is the greatest ever! I'm so lucky! God has blessed me with such a wonderful (fill-in-the-blank)! Thank you, Jesus! I feel like I've won the lottery, I'm so lucky! Who's kidding who? It's better than the lottery! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! He/She is the best! Without question! The very best! Thank you, honey!" Yeah, yeah, yeah... We get it. Well, I suppose I should be going. I'm going to write a Facebook status which exaggerates just how great single life is. Ciao.

"Two-Faced" (a poem I wrote recently)

Two-Faced Kind and thoughtful, Overjoyed by my presence, Warm and caring, All words and actions genuine, The smile on her face when she sees me, The loving look in her eyes, The warm embrace she gives, Me believing there’s nothing to hide, As she walks away from me, The smile transforms into a scowl, The look in her eyes cold and bitter, The seeming joy and warmth nothing but a lie, Her friend’s phone rings, The earlier event is then shared, Negative words emanate from her mouth, Falsities and rumors are spread, Two faces to signal directions, Never sure of which way they’ll go, Believing they’re fooling everyone, But it’s only themselves that they fool.
