Democrats need to reach out to more voters

Democrats are often known as the party of diversity and inclusion. While that may be true and may provide a difficult path to victory for Republicans years down the line, Democrats need to reach out to more voters in order to win more elections today. Over the course of multiple election cycles, Democrats have won when it comes to the following demographics: Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, LGBTs, Arabs/Muslims, non-religious, women (not so much with white women, however), college students/young people, etc. So, yes, as this country continues to become increasingly more diverse, well educated, and with that, accepting, the Democratic Party appears to be in pretty good shape years down the line. However, as recent midterm elections and last night's special elections have showcased (not to mention the general election), even with the support of all these demographics, the Democratic Party continues to fall short of victory more times than not. Cultural Sensitivities

I just read an article regarding Tim Tebow and asking the hypothetical, "What if he were a Muslim? Would American still love him?" The article brought up an interesting question at the start, but the substance of it was lacking. In any case, it prompted many comments from members of the site. Often times, blacks are portrayed as lazy and "gangster," Hispanics portrayed as illegals or working a hard-working, low-paying kind of job. However, most of the skits or comedy bits center around Christianity and whites. Why is this? The majority of people in this country whom practice religion are Christians and the majority of people in th...

"The 75% Minority" (a poem I wrote recently)

The 75% Minority We are the proud, We are the few, We are the strong, We are the discriminated, A constant uphill struggle we face, A constant battle for our rights, With politicians and the media against us, We lock arms ready to fight, We march together in unison, With our heads held high, Refusing to have our freedoms stripped, Refusing to go down without a fight, We finally halt to face our oppressors, Surprised by the lack of them, Before we look directly behind us, And see millions upon millions, Holding only 75% of the population, Without a month to celebrate our history, Having never been persecuted for our race or religion, Having never been enslaved in this country, Supporting freedom for all, Except those whom don’t agree with us, We are the minority, We are the 75%.
