Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has had a bit of a rough week. On not one, but two separate occasions this past week, the Senator has faced plagiarism allegations. In light of this, Senator Paul may have to try and improve his image by releasing a rather personal ad (no, not for dating). It will probably go a little something like this: "Hello. I'm Randal Howard 'Rand' Paul, was born on January 7th of 1963, and am the junior United States Senator for Kentucky. I'm a member of the Republican Party, am the son of former U.S. Representative and presidential candidate Ron Paul of Texas. Kentucky Senator and inventor of the ever-so-popular hairdo pubehead - Rand Paul - has decided to lash out on the members of the media whom reported two separated cases of plagiarism by the Senator. In an interview with National Review 's Robert Costa, Paul said the following: "What makes me mad about the whole thing is that I believe there is a difference between errors of omission and errors of intention. We aren't perfect and we have made errors of omission, but we never intended to mislead anybody. I'm being criticized for not having proper attribution, and yet they are able to write stuff that if I were their journalism teacher in college, I would fail them." It's another day and we have another reported case of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul being guilty of plagiarism. Not long after Paul was caught plagiarizing Wikipedia's page with regard to the film Gattaca , it appears as if, in a September Washington Times column on drug sentencing, he plagiarized a Dan Stewart article from The Week a week earlier. Let's not beat around the bush here (no, especially not around Dubya) - Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is a strange guy. With that Chia Pet-like hair of his, he appears to some as a mad scientist, but to me he just looks plain mad. Paul didn't diminish this odd image of his any with the speech he gave yesterday at a rally in support of Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli. His speech centered around the '90s science-fiction film Gattaca  and as pointed out by MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, it appears as if Mr. Paul may have taken the film's description directly from Wikipedia. After she flubbed with regard to the history of Paul Revere’s Ride, Sarah Palin was quick to defend herself and many of her supporters attempted to alter history in order to justify their hero’s statements. They tried doing this via the online site, Wikipedia. [1] This is a good indicator one is on the losing side of an argument - The Wikipedia loophole. All other news-related sites may counter Ms. Palin’s statement(s), but as long as Wikipedia has her back, it proves she knows her history! It reminds me of the time I answered a question on my college algebra final wrong, but after I tinkered with Wikipedia, I showed the professor and she gave me the 100% that I so deserved. It also reminds me of the time Ms. Palin and John McCain lost the 2008 presidential election, but after their supporters wrote that they had won the election via Wikipedia, that sealed the deal for the Republican Party. Why I haven’t seen Maverick McCain in the Oval Office much in the past 2+ years is beyond me...
