Why do some seem to be put off by someone of great intelligence? They almost frown upon this individual, perhaps call him/her "elitist". This seems to be especially the case in the world of politics. Why? Why wouldn't we want an intelligent person to represent us in office? Politicians and not to generalize, but more times than not Republicans, seem to want to convince the people that they're just like them and the opposition is of a higher education, have been privileged all their lives and can't fully understand the needs of the middle- and lower-classes in this country. However, that's not true. Let's face it. An overwhelming majority of politicians, of both parties, have above-average intelligence (with a few exceptions, of course... Mr. Dubya) and a majority won't be able to completely comprehend what most middle- and lower-class people have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. Some people buy the bait, though. They truly vote based on who they feel they could site down and have a beer with. I'd love it if a politician representing me were both personable and intelligent, but if I had to choose one over the other, I'd vote for the person whom possesses great intelligence and have a drink with the other guy whom possesses the great personality.
My first book review of "Penetrating the Heart of Life: Ambiguous In Thought, Ambivalent In Feeling"
Well, I received my first book review on this poetry-compilation book I completed and published late last year, but have finally gotten around to marketing now. The reviewer gave it 5 out of 5 stars and said: "I enjoyed the poetic journey the writer has taken me on. From darkest days and hopeful optimism to the conclusion of hope realized. The visual images that the poem titled "Room Temperature" elicits, made me think of the song, "Horse With No Name" sung by the band America. In a similar manner, another poem – "Deafening Sigh-lence" reminded me a great deal of Simon & Garfunkel’s song, "The Sound of Silence". There are so many poems in this book that I related to, that I felt a connection to the author and felt that we were traveling on this journey together." http://www.lulu.com/shop/craig-rozniecki/penetrating-the-heart-of-life-ambiguous-in-thought-ambivalent-in-feeling/paperback/product-18677501.html
